I'm sure USSF would have just as soon let everyone operate unsanctioned for 2010 and see what happens rather than forcing the two leagues back together. But FIFA's draconian rules barring those who play in "unsanctioned leagues" from FIFA events prevent this from happening. It's an ego trip on FIFA's part, it's a ridiculous rule, and no one has called them on it, and that bugs me. Let's face it - the CCL will survive without the second-division teams for a year, and vice versa. That should be the only punishment for operating unsanctioned.
