Okay, perhaps Bellamy didn’t need to get involved there, but still, this rule really needs to change. You want to curb pitch invasions, FA? Stop giving yellow cards and suspensions for players who go after these idiots. Nobody would run out of the Kop at Anfield if they knew that Jamie Carragher was allowed a free shot at him.
Better yet, make it Stevie G. The pitch invader might be able to outrun Carragher at this stage.

Brian Clough, apparently, can get away with it.
Remember, though, the aggrieved fan is a Manchester United fan, who has to be placed in a protective bubble by the FA after leaving the stadium lest the presence of other football teams – especially that light-blue one – and their supporters harm his fragile psyche permanently.

I suppose it is one of those situations where you don’t know what you would do until faced with it. I am not saying either player was right, but it is a tricky one to call.
