On August 28, 2007, the family of Rhys Jones was honored at Anfield before a Liverpool-Everton derby match. Jones, an 11-year-old Everton supporter, was shot and killed in the crossfire of a gang shootout in the city Liverpool. The club paid their respects to the slain young by playing Everton’s theme song, Z-Cars, before the match.
Right. Now show me one other time in the last 100 years when a kid wearing an Everton shirt wasn’t heckled mercilessly by Liverpool supporters. Or vice versa.
All you New England Patriots fans who are upset because some girl in a Pats jersey got booed in Indianapolis need to check yourselves. You’re surrounded by the same people who would gleefully chant, “Yankees suck! Yankees suck!”, at a toddler wearing a New York cap. That’s just how sports fans are — especially in football. You’re not wearing the colors of my tribe, and therefore, you must be razzed for it.
Honestly, do you think the girl wasn’t warned that this was coming? Someone probably told her, and she probably said something to the effect of, “I don’t care. This is my team. I can handle it.” So why can’t y’all handle it, Pats fans?
All this talk about who has class and who doesn’t is a waste of time, anyway. Screw class. This is football. Suck it up and deal.

According to the stuff I’ve read, she joked about getting booed with her friends at home. So yeah, she knew it was coming. But you also have to realize – fans will use ANYTHING as an excuse to fan the flames of a rivalry. This is a perfect excuse for Pats fans to keep Colts hate alive.
