Question for My Canuck Readers

Published by Dave at 11:57 am under American Football, Canadian Football

Does anyone out there know the rules for NFL teams signing CFL players? Can CFL players sign with an NFL team right after the Grey Cup in November, or do they have to wait until the following NFL season.

You can probably guess why I’m asking this question, but if not, here’s a hint:

Seriously, wasn’t this guy competing in a Wii Bowling tournament last week?

According to Jason Cole at msnbc (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12889464/), the standard CFL contract allows a window in the winter for a player to sign with an NFL club. But I don’t think a player could just go to the NFL after the Grey Cup. Of course, money changes everything, so for the right price, a CFL team could probably be convinced to release someone from their contract.
