Carlito’s Link Dump

Tomorrow is Independence Day in America, and I plan to celebrate this holiday by taking a day off from this blog. If you absolutely need some stuff to read, though, I recommend the following:

  • Sheffield United: Still relegated. (The Offside)
  • One podcaster’s list of the 10 best AFL players so far this season. (The AFL Show)
  • Brendan Fevola won’t crack that list any time soon. (Das FanHaus)
  • Why the Champions League means so much more than the UEFA Cup. (The Scotsman)
  • Enough with the crappy in-game promotions, already! (The News & Observer)
  • That goes for you, too, ESPN! (100% Injury Rate)
  • Is the Latino market impossible for MLS to attract? (Pitch Invasion)
  • Philadelphia would be a much easier market for them. (Soccernista)
  • The NFL’s new online video policy is really quite silly. (Deadspin)
  • The Charlton women’s side is getting a raw deal. (The Offside)
  • Cardiff striker Steven Thompson had a freak accident on a banana boat. Opponents’ fans can be expected to chant “DAY-O! DAAAAAAY-O!” whenever he gets the ball. (Who Ate All the Pies)
  • Carlito is holding off on the big decision until after Copa America. (The Independent)

And yes, for some reason, “Carlito’s Link Dump” is an appealing title to me for posts like this. I don’t know why. I’m just weird. But that’s why you keep coming back, isn’t it?

For those of you in America, enjoy the holiday. For the rest of you, feel free to shoot off some fireworks anyway, and be glad that your local sports radio stations don’t try to subject you to Colin Cowherd. Even George Washington would turn on ESPN today, scratch his head and ask himself, “Good lord, is this what we fought for?”
