Meanwhile, Back at the FanHouse…

I ain’t got much for you here today — unless you really want to hear how much El Salvador got blasted in the Gold Cup last night… yeah, I thought so — but there’s plenty of fun stuff at the FanHouse. Here are a few items I’ve contributed:

As you can see, writing about soccer right now is a lot more interesting that writing about the NFL, which won’t really get all that interesting again for another six weeks or so.

Here are some other fun reads at the FanHouse today…

Plus, if you haven’t checked out Thomas Dunmore’s new football fandom blog PitchInvasion.net yet, make with the clicky right now. Good stuff.

Oh, and thanks for the plug, Garth.

Thanks for the links to the AOL stuff. I read way too many blogs already so it helps when you at link from this blog.

I agree about US soccer fans starting to “get it”. The point you make about MLS not having the multicultural crowds that US national games seem to attract is interesting. I’ve always wondered if soccer in America would take off if it was broadcast in a bilingual broadcast. Why not show the game in the spirit that it exists?

I see all kinds of soccer highlights via 101 great goals and I’m always finding a new combination - a Japanese broadcast of a Dutch game, a Spanish game in German. Why fight it? Embrace the diversity of US audiences in the broadcast.

Millions of non-Spanish speaking US soccer fans watched the World Cup on Telemundo. I don’t think they would mind a mixed language broadcast all the time.
