Parker gets deal; Ike gets shaft

Come get yours, Willie Parker.

Pittsburgh’s starting running back, who’s out to prove this year that he’s just as effective as a short-yardage back as he is in the open field, signed a four-year, $13.9 million deal to remain with the Steelers through 2009. Not too bad for an undrafted free agent who barely gained 1,000 rushing yards in college, eh? I wonder if this means his brother-in-law won’t have to work so hard selling T-shirts…

Meanwhile, contract talks between the Steelers and cornerback Ike Taylor have broken down. The sticking point? Ike wants a $10 million signing bonus.

Right. I’m about 1,000 times more likely to get a blow job from Scarlett Johansson before Ike Taylor gets ten million dollars from the Rooneys. This is the organization that all but forced Hines Ward into a holdout. You think they’ll pony up for a cornerback who had only one interception last year?

Cornerbacks, polish your resumes now. There may be an opening in the Pittsburgh secondary in 2007.

Okay…I’m going to be honest. Steelers have been my favorite team..ever since I was knee high to a grasshopper. But truthfully…Ike Taylor hasn’t done anything to garner a $10M contract…whut the hell is he thinking. He’s had 2 INTS in 3yrs……hmm..your not Champ Bailey, DeAngelo Hall or even Charles Woodson….those 3 i would consider giving $10M…(notice i said consider). good post….

Yeah, the interceptions he dropped in the Eagles game didn’t help his case out either…
