What, they couldn’t get Damon Allen out of Toronto?

Here’s how confident the Oakland Raiders are in Aaron Brooks and Andrew Walter at quarterback. They signed Jeff George last night.

Yes, that Jeff George. The one that was picked first by the Indianapolis Colts and proved to be a bust everywhere he went. The one that got into sideline fights with June Jones. The one that hasn’t played a down in the NFL since 2001, when Marty Schottenheimer pulled him out of a Redskins game after he turned the ball over 4 times.

I think it’s safe to assume that Jason Whitlock, Jeff George fanboy #1, threatened to sit on somebody. Seriously, I can’t think of another explanation for this. The Raiders had weeks to think about bringing back Kerry Collins at a reduced price before he signed with the Tennessee Titans, and this was what they chose to do instead? Was Damon Allen unable to get out of his contract with the Toronto Argonauts? At least he’s been playing live football somewhere for the last 3 years.

Al Davis has officially lost it. Someone should get him out of that house and put him in a good retirement community or something.
