NFL teams never get relegated, even if some should be
Now that Cleveland Browns owner Randy Lerner is also the owner of English Premier League soccer club Aston Villa, the gang at Soccernista decided to compare the two teams and find some parallels.
Here’s what I want to know, though. As a Steelers fan, I’m supposed to hate the Browns. Thus, since the Browns and Aston Villa are owned by the same guy, I should probably hate Aston Villa, too. Perhaps, then, I should root for Aston Villa’s archrival, which happens to be Birmingham City.
Unfortunately, Birmingham got relegated out of the Premier League last year and is now in the Football League Championship, which is essentially the B-League in English soccer. Since Aston Villa is still in the Premier League, those two teams won’t play each other.
Great. So who’s Aston Villa’s primary EPL rival now?
