Lost Angeles

Published by Dave at 11:02 am under Old DFB Archives

The NFL is still looking at L.A. L.A., meanwhile, is looking at Matt Leinart and Paris Hilton. Maybe Matt Leinart should be looking at this video.

The point is that Los Angeles couldn’t care less about not having an NFL team. They have two football teams already in USC and UCLA, and they have all the sporting distraction they need elsewhere. If L.A. really, truly wanted an NFL team, it would have gotten one by now. The only reason to put a team back in L.A. is money, and the NFL has plenty of it already. Move an existing team there if you must, but expansion is unnecessary at this stage.

BTW, while looking for a different web link with more info on Paris Hilton’s new bang buddy of choice, Google gave me this headline. Believe it or not, it has nothing to do with Paris Hilton.

(Video spotted on Boing Boing.)

The folks here in Kansas City are about to vote on a tax to pay for modifications to Arrowhead Stadium (and Kauffmann stadium for the Royals), including adding a rolling roof. The team’s leases are up at the end of the year if the intitive does not pass.

SO people in support of the tax are using the threat of the teams moving to LA to leverage their side. Hall-of-famer Marcus Allen apparently is one of those that believes LA is VERY interested in the Chiefs if the initiative does not pass. So, maybe there IS NFL interest in LA… or maybe not…

It’s odd–when Red McCombs owned the Vikes, this type of story filled me with trembling dread. Now, though I’d sympathize with whatever fans lost their team, I’m mostly indifferent.
