If I come across at times today like a bit of a mama’s boy, it only means I have something in common with Hines Ward.
Mom’s a big part of the Super Bowl party today, though, because she’s the one making the hot beef dip, which will fill up everyone at the party. If you’d like some hot beef dip at your party, there’s still time to get to the store and get the supplies you need for this recipe:
1 pound ground beef
2/3 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
3 to 4 garlic cloves, minced
1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
In a large skillet, cook beef, onion, green pepper and garlic until meat is browned. Add the tomato sauce, ketchup, sugar, oregano and pepper; simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in cheeses until melted. Transfer to a fondue pot or chafing dish; serve warm with tortilla chips. Serves 16-20.
Another prediction: The Steelers will have one crucial takeaway on special teams today that will change the course of the game. Special teams is important.
