Halftime: Steelers 10, Ravens 10

Published by Dave at 10:44 pm under Old DFB Archives

Turnovers are hurting the Steelers right now.

Ben Roethlisberger threw his second INT of the season on Pittsburgh’s third drive, leading to a Baltimore field goal. On the following kickoff, Ricardo Colclough coughed up the ball on the return. The Steeler defense held, though, and Matt Stover bounced a field goal attempt off the upright. That was a welcome break for the Steelers.

Hines Ward’s deflection reception is going to be on every highlight reel this season. Few receivers would stay with the ball like that in the face of an oncoming hit. All the hits have been hard so far, too.

The Steeler pass defense is woefully disappointing so far today. The Ravens’ O-line is keeping the Steeler blitz off Anthony Wright, and he’s finding open receivers far too easily for my tastes — even though he missed a wide-open Derrick Mason in the end zone on 3rd & goal. Wright is 13 for 24 for 146 yards, 1 TD and 1 end-of-half hail mary INT.

Neither team is running well. The Steelers have only 43 yards rushing, and the Ravens have only 31. Chester Taylor has 3 carries for 0 yards, though he did get the TD reception.

Only Brian and I are left from the original dinner party. Brian still has a chance to win $1000 if the final score is Steelers 17, Ravens 10. Our waitress Martha is a far cry from the girls at Hooters yesterday, but she’s actually just as much fun. Go figure.

Thank you for the update, I will be checking regularly from now on. I am a student at Bryn Mawr college and we don’t get to watch that much television. Unfortunately, my school fits the stereotype and I am one of few football fans. Come visit our site: http://www.woi.brynmawr.edu
