Plax is not it
Today was the salary-cap era NFL’s annual game of tag.
Edgerrin James? Tagged. Shaun Alexander? Tagged. Rudi Johnson? Tagged. Adam Vinatieri? Tagged. John Abraham? Tagged. Donovan Darius? Tagged. Charles Woodson? Tagged.
Plaxico Burress? Not tagged.
Of course, this means Plax will file for free agency and very likely sign with another team. This is not good for the Steelers’ offense, which was much better with Burress in the lineup last season. One wonders how much better the Steelers might have been in January had Burress not gotten hurt in Cincinnati.
Granted, Hines Ward and Antwaan Randle El certainly don’t suck, but neither is as big a deep threat as Plax. Ken Whisenhunt will have to reshape this offense for next season.
