Big Ben expected to sit out
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will sit out Sunday’s game against the Bills. Tommy Maddox will get the snaps in practice and the start in Buffalo. In other news, water is wet, and the Browns suck…
More importantly, the paper is also reporting that the rib injury is not serious, and Big Ben will start Pittsburgh’s playoff opener. In the meantime, Tommy will attempt to prove that 2002 was no fluke. I’m still rooting for him…
No word yet on Duce Staley and his chronically sore hamstring, but I suspect Jerome Bettis, Verron Haynes and/or Willie Parker will get the majority of the carries on Sunday.

I too hope that Maddox has a respectable game against Buffalo. It seems unlikely that the running game will be effective against that defense, so he’ll have to be accurate when he airs it out. Hopefully he’ll show the Maddox of 2002, and not last year’s version. Though I still say that his play was hampered by the horrid amount of injuries last year to the o-line.
Don’t knock the Browns unless you watched the espn night game. I was seriously concerned that the game would go into overtime and lead to suicides the world over. Painful.
In other news, when did you leapfrog me for the 2nd place position in pick ‘em? Do I sense a battle to the finish for 2nd place? Bring it, yo.
Paul
I concede the pick ‘em contest to Scott Poulter, and that’s it. If I hadn’t gotten into that mid-season slump, I’d be right there on top where I should be.
We agree on Maddox and the O-line. Tommy needs strong blocking to play well in the pocket. With a full week to prepare, I think he’ll do okay.
As for the running game, the only reason Pittsburgh isn’t the #1 rushing team in the NFL is Michael Vick, and I’m not yet convinced that Buffalo is up to the challenge. I’ll elaborate on that later…
