Tim Couch’s to-do list

  1. Balance checkbook.

  2. Practice radio voice.
  3. Visit ArenaFootball.com, look for tryout information.
  4. Call Tommy Maddox, get pointers on the insurance industry.

Seriously, how big a bust are you when you go from being the #1 overall draft pick to being rejected by the Chicago Bears, a team trying to decide among Jonathan Quinn, Craig Krenzel and Chad Hutchinson? Talk about hitting rock bottom…

Couch is a good guy. He’s not so good at memorizing the playbook or reading a defense, but he is a good guy. And considering the beating he took while working under the paper-thin O-line he had during his tenure at Cleveland, it’s no surprise he’s lost whatever he once had. I’d still like to see him get second-string behind Peyton Manning, as he was rumored to be thinking about a while (ah, to have friends in the right place), but that’s unlikely at this point.

Hey, Krenzel’s the man anyway. Has toughness and the ability to throw dink passes all the way to the National Championship. And he’s probably smart enough to have that playbook down by now.

Paul, just waiting to sit back for Big Ben’s bitchslapping this Sunday

Excuse me? Did that other MAC quarterback perform so terribly yesterday? Big Ben is going to do just fine on Sunday.

Now, the Steelers secondary… THEY will be bitchslapped. New England 30, Pittsburgh 23.
